Too much Regional Patriotism

With the current political climate looking for decentralization and the resultant transfer of power to regions or worse, to provinces; I am concerned that there will be an escalating trend towards to regional "patriotism". The "have" provinces/regions will end up with the political and economic pewer to the detriment ar those areas of Canada that are weaker. This may result in any number of problems but I fear will result in an effort by some to join the US. This is just a thouht that I think bears further exploring....
